About

A collection of stories, articles, and essays on everything from games, to theatre, to pop culture.  Huzzah!

There’s lots of interesting stuff afoot and I intend to explore at least a bit of it!

So, sit back, relax and find out Wha Happen? this week!

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

My name is Tom McGee and I’m an actor, improviser, dramaturge, and writer living in Toronto, Ontario.  I’ve been fascinated by nerd stuff ever since I can remember, but have recently turned my academic mind to things I’ve loved for a long time.  And due to a proliferation of cheap, used bookstores in Toronto, I have also developed a graphic novel addiction (which compliments my movie and video game addictions quite nicely).

In my theatre life, I am the co-founder of Theatre BROUHAHA, a collective of awesome emerging actors, writers, directors, and designers who I have the pleasure of working with frequently; I am also the artistic director of the Chaos Theory Theatre Company and its children’s theatre wing Shakey-Shake and Friends.  With Chaos Theory I recently toured my one-man show The Devil and Billy Markham by Shel Silverstein to the Vancouver Fringe.  With Shakey-Shake and Friends,  I wrote, directed, and acted in our first show Romeo and Juliet: A Puppet Epic! last summer at Toronto FringeKids and am currently writing our next summer show The Tempest: A Puppet Epic!

In my day job, I am a communications consultant and presentation trainer.  Feel free to message me if you’d like to learn how to get better at public speaking!

I hold degrees from Queen’s University in Theatre and Classics, and a masters from the Graduate Centre for Study of Drama at the University of Toronto.  I was also made honourary captain of the USS Enterprise for winning a board game once.

Here are some of the many interests I’ve got that will flavour this blog…

Star Wars, Star Trek: The Next Generation, X-Men, Spider-Man, Batman, Ghostbusters, GI Joe, Jurassic Park, Final Fantasy, Metal Gear, Mario, GoldenEye, Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, Game of Thrones, Battlestar Galactica, The Simpsons, Family Guy, Community, Seinfeld, Preacher, the art of storytelling, Shel Silverstein, The Nerdist, Evil Dead, The Matrix, comedy, improv, Shakespeare…yeah, stuff like that.

  1. I saw your performance of The Devil and Billy Markham at the van fringe fest and I really enjoyed it 🙂 It inspired this image http://stplmstr.deviantart.com/art/The-Devil-and-Billy-Markham-280131751 and I wanted to pass it along to show my appreciation for a wonderful performance 🙂

  2. So two weeks ago I came up with an idea to watch every star trek. All 617 episodes starting with TNG to the last episode of Enterprise, and then I found your blog! I thought I was so original, but I guess not 😛

    • Hahaha, great minds and all that! It’s a fantastic adventure; I’ve been having a great time so far and from the sounds of your main page you’ll dig it too! (I’m a Star Wars fan first too.) Happy Trekking!

  3. Gee, I came up with the idea to watch — and blog — all Star Trek episodes, too. On February 6. Then I found your site and realized I’m not alone.

Then I found this comment, and realized there are three of us. At least. Yay, originality!

    • Hey David! Thanks for the shout-out! I think it’s crazy too that at least three of us came up with this idea around the same time; must be something in the air. Enjoy you epic Trek, good sir, and I’ll check in with you at the end of The Original Series; maybe we can do a joint post about our respective adventures to that point? Might be fun.
      Cheers,
      -Tom
